Tuning the piano in the station of Utrecht
From light melodies to hard hitting the keys. The piano in the middle of the largest station in the Netherlands has a lot to endure. That's why the musical instrument at Utrecht Central Station has to be tuned once a month on average.
On Friday it was time again and a piano tuner from Bol Piano's went to work. NS spokesman Carola Belderbos: "The piano is used a lot. You have to take care of it a bit, because it has to keep sounding''.
Pianoman
Since December the station piano can be found in the hall of Utrecht Central Station. In the meantime, hundreds, if not thousands of waiting travellers have performed a tune, such as the song Piano Man by the American pianist Billy Joel.
